Core Beliefs & Values
ARTICLES OF FAITH
The fundamental teachings of Hope Alive Christian Center are clearly reflected in the following statements:
  1. We believe the bible is God's word to all mankind.
    II Timothy 3:16, I Corinthians 2:13
  2. We believe in ONE God existing in THREE persons and can be known as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - distinguishable but indivisible
    Matthew 28:19, II Corinthians 13:14
  3. We believe that every person is born a sinner and unable to save himself from it.
    Romans 5:12,18
  4. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of men, was born from God, and is both very God and very man.
    Luke 1:26-38, John 1:14-18, Isaiah 7:14; 9:6
  5. We believe Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day, and personally appeared to His disciples.
    I Corinthians 25:1-4, Romans 4:25, Acts 1:3-5, John 20:16-21
  6. We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus into Heaven; His exaltation and personal, literal, and bodily coming again the second time for the church.
    John 14:2-3, I Thessalonians 4:13-18
  7. We believe in the salvation by grace through repentance and faith in the perfect, sufficient work of Calvary for remission of sins.
    Ephesians 2:8-9, Hebrews 9:11-22, Romans 5:11
  8. We believe in the necessity of water baptism by immersion in the name of the Eternal Godhead in order to fulfill the command of Christ.
    Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:34-38; 19:1-6
  9. We believe in the Scriptural evidence of "speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance" as an experience subsequent to salvation.
    Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 10:44-48
  10. We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit as manifested in the Early Church and enumerated in the scriptures.
    I Corinthians 12-14
  11. We believe in the Spirit-filled life of separation from the world and the perfecting of holiness in the fear of God as an expression of Christian faith.
    Romans 12:1-2, Ephesians 5:18, I Corinthians 6:14; 7:1
  12. We believe in bodily healing by Divine Power (or Divine healing) in its varied aspects as practiced in the Early Church.
    Acts 4:30, Romans 8:11, I Corinthians 12:9, James 5:14
  13. We believe in the Table of the Lord, commonly called Communion of the Lord's Supper for believers.
    I Corinthians 11:23-32
  14. We believe in eternal life for believers (John 3:16; 5:24)
    and eternal punishment for unbelievers.
    Matthew 18:6-9, Mark 9:43-50, II Thessalonians 1:9, Revelation 20:10-15
  15. We believe in the reality, personality, and eternal judgment of Satan and his angels.
    Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10-15

In addition to these basic fundamentals, we also hold that:

A. The Biblical form of church government is a plural eldership with a senior minister whose spiritual life, character, domestic life, and rulership ability qualify on the basis of I Timothy 3.

B. The church of Jesus Christ is the last instrument that God is using to extend His kingdom prior to the Second Coming of Christ. Ephesians 3:10, Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 1:20-22

C. The local church is completely autonomous; it is self-governing, self-supporting, and self-propagating in its mature state.

D. Every believer in Christ must be subject to God's authority in a specific local church for spiritual protection and long term fruitfulness. Hebrews 13:17

VISION VALUES
  1. God's Word - We believe that the Bible is God's complete and inspired word, the authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practice for all Christians. We believe it is your personal and church's "owner's manual".
    Psalms 119:1-176, John 1:1-5,14
  2. God's Manifest Presence - To enjoy God's realized presence is our passion as a church. We believe that we can create a place that the Holy Spirit is welcomed to (and that he will) come for fellowship and to enjoy His people in a real and intimate way as we follow the pattern of worship as seen in Psalms 22:3
  3. Salvation by Faith, Water Baptism by Immersion, and Baptism of the Holy Spirit - We believe that these are foundational truths for all believers to experience.
    Romans 5:6-19, Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 6:1-14, Luke 24:46-49, Acts 1:5,8; 2:1-4
  4. Holy Spirit Activity - Both in our personal and corporate life as believers, we welcome the moving of the Holy Spirit and that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are part of our basic beliefs.
    John 16:5-15, Romans 12, I Corinthians 12
  5. Dynamic Spontaneous Praise and Worship - The believer's response to God's presence may be seen in the heartfelt worship with clapping and lifting hands and singing spontaneous songs unto the Lord.
    Psalms 149-150
  6. The Principle of Unity - Not conformity, but unity of spirit and principle. Unity may express itself in a variety of ways, but still maintain the same principles and convictions so as to flow together in accomplishing vision.
    Psalms 133, Ephesians 4:3
  7. The Holiness of God - Holiness is not legalism that is measured by outward look, but a true cleansing of the believer by the power of the Holy Spirit that is evidenced in Christian character and conduct.
    Galatians 5:16-26
  8. Fervent Prayer - The voice of prayer is heard as we pray together in our pre-service prayer times. This principle to prayer is believed to be the motor or powerhouse to our church life. Individual prayer and fasting as well as corporate prayer in the church and for the church is a continual emphasis.
    Matthew 6:5, James 5:16, Luke 11:9-13
  9. Faith - We believe that God hears and answers our prayers of faith; and that without faith it is impossible to please God.
    James 5:13-18, Hebrews 11, Luke 11:9-13
  10. Excellence - We believe God deserves the best we have to offer; therefore, we seek to maintain a high quality of excellence in all we do.
  11. The Family - We express this commitment in our strong emphasis on family and its function through training, teaching, preaching, and available Biblical counsel.
  12. Relationships - To love one another is our goal, and we endeavor to make this practical through small groups called Connection Groups, where every believer is encouraged to develop deeper relationships with other believers that result in encouragement and accountability.
  13. Integrity - We hold this value in highest esteem and filter all other values through it. Trustworthiness, transparency, and high moral character are foundational.
  14. Kingdom of God - We believe we are to influence the culture in which we live with God's truth. We are to be salt and light to our world. The political, social, and educational arenas penetrated by God's Word and principles.
    Matthew 6:33
  15. Evangelism of the World - We believe that the great Commission is a high priority for "The Church"; and that we must all avail ourselves to it at whatever level or means that God has called and shaped us to. "Some plant, some water, and God brings the increase".
  16. The Church - We believe that the church is the final instrument mentioned in scripture that God said He would build. That Church would withstand the gates (authority) of hell and would be made up of believers of every race and nation.
    Matthew 16:18; 24:14
